Does anybody in the UK have any recomendations of footwear suppiers. I know these things are a very individual preference but some pointers into what people are using would be helpfull as unless you use a specialist manufacture the range of options is vast and confusing.

Try these guys... they have some good shoes... I bought a pair of the Cimac Nylon Canvas training Shoes Black off then for around 18 quid and they are pretty good... comfortable and light...

addidas m.a. shoes w/pivoting ball are nice if you want to get fancy, are doing a demonstration,or teach/practice indoors;they are a damn nice, secure lightweight shoe;otherwise any old pair of canvas lace up w/smooth bottoms will do nicely thank you;especially if you practice outdoors;stay away from "kung fu" slippers that are not a snug fit.(i know that wasn't the question, but mabe it'll help anyway)

Thanks for the information.
I now have a better idea of what to look for when hunting for something suitable. When presented with walls of shoes in sportswear shops my eyes have glazed over and I have made a hasty retreat.

LOL... yes I know what you mean... most of the normal sports shops have no idea what you are talking about (I tried to explain one day and it took about 10mins to put across that a MA shoe was different to the latest reebok)... happy hunting mate..

Another questions on the same subject. I see a number of manufactures stating that their shoes have 'Multi-circular pivot points'. Do these actually work or is this just a sales gimik and I may as well just stick with a normal flat sole ?

i'd say yes to both questions;yes, they work and yes, they are a gimmick because you can pivot just as well with a shoe that has a smooth sole

I think the web adress is www.blitzsports.com or blitzsports.co.uk
and they supply all kinds of stuff for a variety of martial arts.
For my own part, when I can and where practical I prefer bare feet!
