Hello all,

I have put up a clip of the 8 form (or 10 form) on my website.

The size is 18,4 MB.

This is the page:

The link is just before the table that lists all the movements. The site is in dutch only.

Comments on the form and the site ar allways welcome. I guess the form can be discussed here. Let's keep the rest out of this thread :)

my personal opinion is the "anything is better than nothing philosophy' wears a little thin when reducing a style to this number of postures only;unless you're combining it with a qigong excercise class or using it as an introduction only, the benefit would be so minimal i don't see how anyone could consider it worthwhile to learn or more importantly to teach;in fact i find the trend,(if indeed it is that) detrimental.it just encourages people to give up before they even start

Well...you're right of course if the 8-form is the only form that you practice. But the curriculum of modern Yang-style is larger than this.

The 8-form serves a purpose though. I is compact highly technical and it (confirmed by a lot of people) stimulates qi-circulation a lot.

Short forms are here to stay. Take the 40-form (Yang style competition routine). When it was choreographed at the end of the eighties, the Yangs didn't like it, but soon after they came with their own short version (49 movements). Recently they helped to develop a 13-form.

P.S. If someone has difficulties viewing this .avi clip it is probably because you need the DIVX 5.1 codec. You can download this codec from http://www.divx.com
