I would like to invite you and your friends to our upcoming workshop on June 13-18 in Terre Haute. It will be an ideal time for self-growth, improving Tai Chi and health. I am confident that you will enjoy this special time to learn and practice Tai Chi, to grow in energy and spirit, as well as networking with friends from many countries.
The pre-conference workshop will be held on June 11-12. It will be Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention and Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis. This is the once a year opportunity to work with most of the Master Trainers and myself in a small individualized group. At the conference you will learn how to adapt Tai Chi for Arthritis for preventing falls and with people with disabilities. This workshop can also be an update for other Tai Chi for Health programs. Please note that you are required to know the Tai Chi for Arthritis program prior to the workshop.
We are offering several scholarships thanks to generous contributions from participants of June 2010 and the Tai Chi for Health Community. For more information regarding this year's scholarship, please contact the

1. Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention Instructor Training Course*
You will learn the 12 movement Tai Chi for Arthritis and the 9 movement Part II programs, as well as a special module to use them for fall prevention. You will also learn skills to teach the programs effectively and safely. Supported by Arthritis Foundation, it is proven to relieve arthritic pain, improve health and quality of life.
Qualified participants (health and fitness professionals, advanced Tai Chi students and instructors) may be certified to teach the programs. We welcome beginners to participate for personal growth and health.
2. Tai Chi for Diabetes and Osteoporosis Instructor Training*
You will learn both sets of forms which are based on Sun and Yang styles. They are complementary to, but different from, each other and Tai Chi for Arthritis. Similar qualifications apply for the certification. The programs are supported by Diabetes Australia and Osteoporosis Australia respectively. We welcome beginners to participate for personal growth and health improvement.
3. The 24 Forms**
People of almost any level of physical fitness and age can learn this most popular Tai Chi set. Based on the Yang Style, it is gentle and graceful. Learning this set will give you a solid foundation and expand your skill.
4. Exploring the Depth of The 24 Forms**
Pre-requisite: know the 24 Forms
The 24 Forms is used as a vehicle to work with essential Tai Chi principles, here we explore the deeper meanings and internal aspects of Tai Chi to enhance your progress.
5. Sun Style 73 Forms**to ***
Pre-requisite: know Tai Chi for Arthritis I and II
Sun style Tai Chi contains unique and powerful Qigong (life energy) that are ideal for self-growth and healing. It is relatively easy to learn and has great depth to be explored for a lifetime.
6. Exploring the Depth of Sun style 73 Forms***
Pre-requisite: know the 73 Forms
Explore the essential principles and internal aspects to improve your internal energy and depth of Tai Chi. It will make your journey to higher level more enjoyable and quicker.
7. The Combined 42 Forms***
This set contains the characteristics of the four major Tai Chi styles, namely Yang, Chen, Wu and Sun. It is well-balanced, enjoyable and is adopted by most major international competitions.
8. Yang Style 40 Forms***
A well constructed set based on the classical Yang style 108 Forms. Graceful and open-framed, Yang is the most popular Tai Chi style.
9. Tai Chi Fan ***
Originating in China and based on yang style, this Tai Chi Fan set combines both martial and monastic qualities, expressing the ultimate in ying and yang.
10. 42 Sword Forms***
The set contains the characterisitics of the four major Tai Chi styles, namely Yang, Chen, Wu and Sun and is especially suitable for people who have completed the Combined 42 Forms. The sword is a beautiful extension of the essential principles of Tai Chi.
11. Push Hands***
Learn how to listen and interpret energy; yielding and neutralising incoming force through push hands. It will improve your level and understanding of Tai Chi.
12. The Chen Style 36 Forms****
Chen Style is characterised by softness and hardness complementing each other, fastness and slowness intermixed. It is more vigorous than other styles and powered by a sophisticated spiral force (chan suu jin), ideal to expand skill for advanced practitioners.
13. Exploring the Depth of 36 Forms ****
Pre-requisite: know the 36 Forms
Exploring the inner principles to improve your depth and skill of this more challenging set and to expand skill for advanced practitioners.

1. Understandind intention in Push Hands 
Explore the idea of issuing energy (fa jin), with caution and safety, incorporating Yang Style ward off, roll back, press and push.
2. Baduajin Qigong
One of the most widely practiced Qigong also known as Eight Pieces of Brocade. The modified movements enhance Qi circulation and can be practiced sitting or standing.
3. Teaching Tai Chi Effectively (Part 1)
An interactive seminar to explore: Why teach tai chi? What makes an effective teacher and how to become more effective?

1. A short fan set
Appropriate for men and women regardless of experience will enjoy this introduction to Tai Chi Fan. You will learn a catchy short form in this evening session.
2. Eastern Head Massage
A wonderful relaxing treatment that involves massage of the upper back, shoulders, neck, head and face. It has been practiced in India for over a thousand years and usually involved all family members from the very young to the oldest.
3. Teaching Effectively Part II
An interactive seminar to explore: The Stepwise Progressive Teaching Method. How to start a class and working with different populations including motivation.

Enjoy a private evening… A buffet style dinner will be provided catering for all varied diets. It is a great time to get together at the conclusion of the workshop.

The nearest major airport to Terre Hautre is Indianapolis International Airport. The college is approximately 1.5 hours drive from the airport.

Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods College is a 67 acre wooded campus located five miles northwest of Terre Haute. This peaceful and beautiful campus features a fitness trail, lake and stables amid the stately academic buildings.
We learned in Dr. Lam’s workshop that correct teaching and practice
are essential to improve tai chi. You will work with highly qualified instructors and enjoy practicing with your peers when you take a course at the June workshop.
